You can’t be on your bike all the time. At some point you’ve got to hop off to rest, refuel, and maybe make a repair or two. But if you wish you could fill your day with nothing but gripping those bars and pressing those pedals, we’ve got the next best thing: ten under-the-radar Instagram accounts that celebrate cycling and will keep you connected to not only #MTBlife, but all the exciting places you can reach on two wheels. Well, after a little drive to the trailhead, of course. That’s where a bike rack for the roof of your car will really come in handy.
These Inspiring Instagramers Will Have You Loading Up the Bike Rack For The Roof of Your Vehicle
From sponsored athletes to globe-trotting cyclists to mountain bike enthusiasts who know the mountains in their backyard like they know the backs of their own hands, these Instagramers love to ride. Fortunately for the rest of us, they (or their friends!) also manage to snap great shots that leave you feeling like you’re along for the ride.
Pablo met Ilze in 2011 in Riga, Latvia while he was backpacking through Europe. They realized they were kindred spirits and a month later, Ilze quit her job to continue traveling the world with Pablo. They are currently traveling around the world by bicycle, and are currently covering the United States. Prior to the U.S., the pair were in Bali and southeast Asia. Follow along now, because you never know where these two will end up next!
Princess Pepper and her partner pedaled out of Fort Collins last year as friends and over hundreds of dusty miles, became something more. Follow their adventures as they continue to bikepack as much as money and time will allow. Their gear reviews will give you great ideas for your own bikepacking setup, not to mention destination inspiration.
Murad Düzgün sums it up nicely when he writes, “Life is not boring, you just don’t have a bicycle!” He and his friends travel all over the world on bike tours, but Murad also shares photos from others seeing the globe the same way. You’ll see everything from a man bikepacking on a pennyfarthing to a man carrying an impossible number of pineapples on baskets instead of panniers!
If you love jumps, dives, wheelies, and serious air in front of magnificent mountain backdrops, you want to follow Julie Kozier. She shreds through North Vancouver, British Columbia, and it’s exhilarating to watch. You can practically feel the endorphins yourself every time a photo catches Julie mid-air.
Another globetrotting duo, Rolling Tramps is the travel diary of two friends biking across the world from Paris to Paris. They only recently got started, so now is your chance to get caught up and follow them as they pedal through Spain and on to the rest of this big, wide world. Maybe you’ll want to get that bike rack for the roof of your car set up so you can make your own around-the-world trip!
Love mountains? So does Kody Gubler. Follow along as he explores the mountains, not only by bike, but also by ski and snowboard. The vehicles might change, but one thing remains constant— the spectacular scenery as Kody chases adrenaline, altitude, and great photos.
Matt Koen is based in Marin County, California, where mountain biking was born. He bikes beyond borders, though, attending races everywhere from Whistler, Canada to Spain and Italy. In addition to gnarly action shots and the occasional mountain trout, Matt also posts sick videos that will get your heart racing.
This location-based account follows the adventures of cyclists in South Africa, specifically around the Biogen Sports Park and Avianto in Muldersdrift. If you’re familiar with South Africa and its cycling scene, you’ll appreciate a little of the familiar. If you’ve never heard of the Woesrand (better known as West Rand), this is a great glimpse at what mountain biking looks like in other countries.
Another look at cycling outside the United States, Tong Liu is a Japanese cyclist who snaps gorgeous shots of his rides in Tokyo, Japan, China, and beyond. Maybe we’ve got an extra soft spot for Tong, though, since INNO has roots in Japan, too.
A member of the HC Sintra Cycling Team, Alcides Canivete is located in Portugal and posts shots that are a mix of personal fun rides and serious races. He’ll bring you along from cobblestone streets to long, winding roads to outside churches in Santiago. Once and a while his sweet cats make a cameo, too.
These ten accounts should help fill the gaps between your own rides and might give you ideas for tours you want to try. Don’t forget to follow up on Instagram, too, at @innoracks. We love to share great shots of people going outside and playing hard, whether on a mountain bike, a surfboard, or fighting the star of your next big fish story.
